Marti McCurdy

CEO

Marti McCurdy, owner and CEO of Spirit Electronics, is a veteran not only of the semiconductor business but also of the United States Air Force. Marti’s focus as CEO is to serve the aerospace and defense industry for high reliability components. She exercises her engineering knowledge of space qualified flows and sophisticated testing to deliver flight class devices. Throughout her career as a business owner and most recent position as VP, Marti’s goal is to bring her high standard of customer service and cultivated relationships to serve the aerospace sector she is so familiar with. Marti holds a current patent and is a published author in ultrasonic applications.

Zef Malik

Zef Malik

VP Strategic Business Development

Zef Malik is an industry veteran with more than 40 years of Semiconductor experience ranging from IC Manufacturing, Device Characterization, Test and Product Qualification. He was a founder of ISE/IQL Labs and then Silicon Turnkey Solutions, (STS) and remains a respected leader in deliverance for the Military Deep Space and high reliability market. Mr. Malik has extensive expertise in the areas of FPGAs, ASIC and RF technology.

Dr. Naveed Sherwani

Advisor on ASIC Deployment

Dr. Naveed Sherwani is a well-known semiconductor industry veteran with over 35 years of entrepreneurial, engineering, and management experience. He is widely recognized as an innovator and leader in the field of design automation of ASICs and microprocessors. Naveed has founded or co-founded over fifteen silicon companies and raised over $1B in 15 funding rounds from marquee venture capital firms over the course of his career. While serving as President, CEO, or Chairman, Naveed has been recognized as the leader of the “Most Respected Private Semiconductor Company” a record five times by the GSA (Global Semiconductor Alliance, the premier semiconductor industry membership body). Dr. Sherwani now serves as CEO of Rapid Silicon, aiming to drive the next wave of innovation by using open-source software to disrupt the FPGA industry. Naveed also serves as an advisor to American Frontier Fund (AFF). Naveed has joined the Spirit Electronics to serve as Advisor on ASIC deployment, brining over 300 designs in his portfolio.

Scott Gooch Head of Engineering Operations

Scott Gooch

Head of Engineering Operations

Scott Gooch is a manufacturing engineering and operations executive with over 20 years’ experience in all facets of manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, and contract manufacturing management. Scott’s role at Spirit will be to lead the manufacturing, engineering, planning, quality, and production teams in supporting and growing Spirit’s OSAT business. Most recently, Scott served as Vice President of Hardware Operations at U.S. drone maker Skydio. Prior to that Scott was Senior Engineering Manager of Special Projects at Apple, VP of Engineering Operations at Ventiva, and VP of Manufacturing at Santur (now NeoPhotonics). Scott held multiple management-level positions for packaging and engineering at RF Micro Devices. He began his career at Micron Technology. Scott holds 9 patents with 3 filed patents in process.

A.L.I.C.E.

Automated System

A.L.I.C.E. (Automated Logistics Informative Custom Export) is an automated reporting tool that allows Spirit to inform our customers and suppliers efficiently and effectively with the most up-to-date information needed. A.L.I.C.E. has allowed us to be more communicative than ever before.

When she’s not automating data, A.L.I.C.E. enjoys reading science fiction novels, learning about space travel, and rewatching the Star Wars movies!

Althea

AR Specialist

Althea is a versatile professional with a background in communications and journalism. Born and raised in Orange County, California, she has accumulated experience in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, construction, moving and logistics, tax accounting, and property restoration. In 2020, Althea took a courageous step, relocating to Oklahoma to provide full-time care for her grandmother, who was battling dementia. During this period, she leveraged her expertise by working as a freelancer, dividing her time between Kansas City, Missouri, and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

As her grandmother’s health needs evolved, Althea’s journey led her to Phoenix, AZ, in April 2022. Driven by her dedication to family and her longing for her West Coast roots, she embarked on this new chapter. Beyond her professional pursuits, Althea finds joy in crafting exquisite flower bouquets, preparing delectable vegan meals, exploring new destinations through travel, and cherishing moments spent with her loved ones. Her story is a testament to her adaptability, resilience, and the deep connections that shape her life’s path.

Alyssa

Content Marketing Coordinator

Alyssa’s attention to detail and love of creative problem solving spans 12 years in education technology and now aerospace. She joined Spirit as a Quality Analyst managing documentation and process improvement. Her skills specialize in writing and communication, and she is excited to transition to marketing and technical writing for Spirit. She is also the producer of Spirit’s podcast Behind the Screen, and enjoys content creation.

Spirit’s history as a veteran-owned business is particularly meaningful to her as a former military spouse. After moving around the world, she has settled back home in Phoenix, AZ, with her family.

Andrew

Human Resources Manager & Executive Assistant

Originally from California, Andrew relocated to Phoenix in June 2021. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.

Andrew has performed in a variety of admin roles during his career including account receivables & payables, office management, project management, field training management, and human resources. He is excited to bring his passion for helping people and growing strong teams to Spirit as our HR and Executive Assistant.

In his free time, Andrew plays indoor and sand volleyball in various leagues around Phoenix plays softball on a men’s travel team.

Betsy Sam

Warehouse Associate

Betsy moved to Arizona in September 2022 from California. Although new to the aerospace industry, she is very familiar with the electronics industry.

Betsy is excited to be part of a company that is growing as fast as Spirit and is ready to learn all she can.

When Betsy is not working, you can find her on her snowboard in the winter and at sporting events, hiking, and concerts. She is always on the hunt for her next travel destination in the summer.

Corbin Pearson

Lab Technician

Corbin has been a Warehouse Assistant with Spirit Electronics for 8 years. He is excited to join our lab team to put his hard-earned expertise in inspection and product handling to work. Corbin is experienced in our value-added services and equipment and has valuable attention to detail when it comes to making sure our products meet customer requirements.

Born in Reno, Corbin moved to Arizona at age 3 and grew up here in Phoenix. When not grounded by an ESD strap, he enjoys time relaxing with friends and family. 

Dan

Dan

Corporate Sales Manager

Dan joined the Spirit Electronics team as a Product Pricing Specialist in October 2018 and grew to become an account representative and now Spirit’s corporate sales manager. Spirit is his first role in the aerospace and electronics industry, and he is excited to learn all aspects of it. Dan spend over 12 years in the furniture industry where he did everything from merchandising to accounting and operations. He is looking forward to building strong relationships with our suppliers and working closely with them to help Spirit Electronics grow. Dan is a native Phoenician and enjoys spending with family and friends.

Daniel

Account Representative

Daniel was born and raised in Arizona, from the small town Parker by Lake Havasu. Daniel’s sales experience is in the ad specialties world, sells pens to businesses nationally. He is looking forward to digging in and learning as much as he can about the aerospace industry. He looks forward to building customer relationships and becoming someone customers can count on.

Daniel enjoys cooking and spending time at home with his wife and four children. His favorite dish is bacon-wrapped jalapeños. Daniel also enjoys gaming, golfing, and recording comedy and gaming videos for his YouTube channel.

Estefania

Estefania

Director of Quality

Estefania stepped into her dream job at Spirit working as our Quality Assurance Analyst, quickly moved up to Quality Manager and now manages a full department as Director of Quality. She began her quality career in the automotive industry, realizing she enjoyed her role in audits, process efficiency, and product quality assurance. Her professional career has also spanned accounting and human resources positions, giving her a unique perspective on how company roles combine to build an effective team.

Estefania is excited to lead the Spirit quality management system to new efficiencies and improvements to meet our customers’ needs for product reliability and timely delivery.

Estefania is originally from Ecuador and moved to Arizona after obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Management Engineering from Polytechnic Salesian University of Ecuador.

Hunter Marsh

Purchasing Coordinator

Hunter is from Peoria, Arizona. His professional journey is just getting started as he pursues a degree in Cybersecurity Engineering at Glendale Community College. In his free time, Hunter enjoys following Formula 1 and spending time with friends. He’s excited about the opportunity to learn within the dynamic realm of the aerospace industry and is committed to advancing his education and playing a role in elevating Spirit to new heights.

Ivan

Director of Program Management

Ivan is the Director of Program Management at Spirit Electronics. He has over 10 years of experience in distribution and supply chain. Ivan is responsible for customer interactions and communications and also works on all customer reporting and analytics. Ivan also is responsible for all new program implementations. He has previously managed SMI and coordinated contracts for the Spirit sales team.

In 2005, Ivan obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management from Arizona State University with a certificate in International Business. Ivan resides in Mesa, Arizona, and has 3 children.

Jason Brandsma

Account Representative

Jason was born and raised in Arizona and grew up in the Glendale area. He joined the Spirit Electronics team in September 2022 as an Account Representative. He has roughly 10 years of sales experience with about 3 years in upper management. Although he is new to working in the aerospace industry, he has worked with multiple aerospace and defense companies in other sales capacities.

Jason graduated from Arizona State University in the fall of 2013 after completing a BS in Marketing at WP Carey School of Business. Growing up he played multiple sports, and once in high school, he focused directly on basketball. He loves spending time with his family, especially his wife and son. He is also a huge Arizona sports fan and enjoys golfing in his free time.

Jeremy

Jeremy

Warehouse Manager

Jeremy is a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force who served in the aviation maintenance sector. He relocated to the Phoenix area in 2012 and retired from the Air Force in February 2021. He brings his knowledge of continuous improvement and Lean principles to the Spirit warehouse.

Jeremy is an avid hockey fan, player and coach. He enjoys coaching youth hockey and mentoring. He instills values of teamwork, pride, and a thirst to improve their game. When Jeremy is not on the ice, he enjoys attending professional hockey games with his family and friends.

Josh

Warehouse Associate

Josh is a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force who served in the aviation maintenance career field and maintained the A-10, F-15, and U-2 aircraft fleet. He relocated to the Phoenix area in 2023 and retired from the Air Force in October 2023. He brings skills like continuous improvement and product production and generation principles to the Spirit warehouse.

Josh enjoys working with his hands and going to local sporting events…and most of all his family.

Josh Moore

Josh

Program Planner

Josh was born in Iowa. He lived there until he joined the U.S. Air Force in 2001, one week before September 11. He served as an Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Specialist. At the end of his Air Force career, he served in QA for 3 years as a project manager for the Air Force Repair Enhancement Program (AFREP).

After the Air Force, Justin worked for Black Diamond Advanced Technology in Chandler, AZ. He finished school and received a BS in Project Management from Bellevue University. He went on to work with Windtest North-America Inc. as a program manager and oversaw wind turbine projects all over the states.

Josh is excited to be a part of the program management team here at Spirit because this position is a mixture of engineering and project management. One of Josh’s hobbies is tinkering with electronics to create new things, solve problems, challenge himself and learn. They say “Do what you love”. Josh loves project management and engineering.

When not at work, Josh enjoys family time with activities like drawing and coloring with his 6-year-old daughter, playing toy piano with his 1-year-old daughter, and cooking and discussing social issues with his wife.

Justin Hernandez

Justin

Lab Technology Supervisor

Justin is a native Arizonan born in Glendale. He started his career in manufacturing with insulated and bare copper wire and move to Houston, TX, to improve his knowledge. Justin has experience in heat treatment, project management, CNC production and the aerospace industry. He has worked for a fastener company in their specialty department approved machine capability quotes. It was there he was introduced to military standards and MIL-STD testing.

Justin’s quality management background includes assisting a large oil and gas company transitioning from ISO 9001:2008 to 2015. He has also implemented a QMS at a European company to meet international requirements to break into the U.S. market.

After Hurricane Harvey hit Houston in 2017, Justin made the tough decision to move back to his hometown with his wife and two dogs. Justin’s hobbies include machining, wood working, design, drawing and gaming.

Justin joined the Spirit team excited about what he can learn and how his personal experiences can help in this new journey.

Karly Hemshrot

Warehouse Associate

Karly arrived at Spirit with over 4 years of warehouse and inventory experience in different industries. Karly has held multiple roles at Spirit in the warehouse, supporting sales accounts, and acting as a customer account coordinator to communicate and update order statuses. This has given her extensive experience in the A&D supply chain, knowing just how critical order requirements, quality and delivery can be.

Karly currently works on the Spirit Warehouse team, facilitating shipping, logistics, inspections and inventory management.

Karly was born and raised in Phoenix, and when she is not working she spends most of her time having fun with her daughter.

Kelly

Director of Purchasing

Kelly is the Director of Purchasing at Spirit Electronics with over 20 years’ experience in Purchasing in a multitude of industries including food manufacturing, healthcare, automotive and audio video production and installations. She enjoys building relationships with suppliers and partnering with them to strengthen our supply chain. She has a Bachelors Degree in IT Management and several IT certifications.

Originally from St. Louis, MO, Kelly moved to Phoenix four years ago. She is the mother of two wonderful, grown children and a few furry animals. She loves to travel and take adventures and most recently fell in love with the RV life. 

Kyle Fabian

Kyle

Senior Accountant

Kyle joined the Spirit team in December 2023 after moving to Phoenix from his home state of South Carolina. He spent seven years working in the accounting department for a transportation and logistics company before spending last year as the senior accountant for a couple music venues. In his free time, Kyle enjoys outdoor activities and going to concerts.

Megan Downie, Spirit Senior Account Manager

Senior Director of Technology Operations

Megan has more than 15 years of experience in customer service and business administration. In her current role at Spirit, Megan is the Senior Director of Technology Operations, responsible for managing our ERP system JD Edwards, as well as technology and automation tools that keep Spirit’s business running. She has excelled at programming workflows and giving the team tools and improvements to essential Spirit operations.

Megan was previously a Senior Account Representative, developing and maintaining customer relationships. She knows how to provide superior customer satisfaction through excellent communication and the capability to fulfill every need.

Born and raised in Chicago, Megan moved to Scottsdale in 2015 to enjoy the gorgeous weather and beautiful scenery.

Nicolette

Account Representative

Niki is new to the Phoenix area, having moved here in the beginning of the 2020 from northern Illinois.

Coming from a background in automotive sales, she is also new to the aerospace and electronics distribution industry and is thrilled to be part of the Spirit family and ready to learn everything she can.

Odile Bangili

Quality Analyst

Odile is a QA Analyst at Spirit Electronics with many years of experience in data analysis, problem solving and process improvement.

She has a master’s degree in Quality Assurance from California State University Dominguez Hills and a Certificate in Business Analysis from San Jose State University.

Odile started her QA career in biotechnology and semiconductor industries.  She is new to the aerospace industry and is excited to be a part of the Spirit team.

Odile is originally from Cameroon and moved to California in 2004 after living in Germany and Toronto, Canada. She relocated to Arizona in 2019.

Robin Gomez

Robin

Project Coordinator

Robin was born and raised in Arizona with experience in customer service since the age of 15. She transitioned to the aerospace industry two years ago. She has a passion for working out, playing the piano, reading, watching anime, and cooking. Robin’s artistic interest extend to playing six different instruments and actively pursuing composition and music theory. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and close friends and exploring new restaurants.

Sam Matheson

Sam

Marketing Coordinator

Sam is a marketing and communications specialist with experience in media fields ranging from broadcast news to film and podcast production. He moved to the Phoenix area in 2022 with his fiancée. Before Arizona he lived all over the country, from Nevada and Kentucky to the oil fields of West Texas.

In his free time, Sam enjoys cooking and watching and writing about movies with his family.

Sean

Director of Technical Sales

Sean is the Director of Technical Sales for Team Spirit, supporting our value-add service programs, including testing and circuit card assembly in our full turnkey offering. He joined the Spirit Electronics team in July of 2018 as a Sales Associate. He brings with him a diverse background in professional sales, marketing, customer service, business development and management. Sean worked for Microsemi Corporation (formerly White Electronic Designs) as a Sales Associate for 8 years and then took a slight detour to open an award-winning restaurant in Mesa, AZ. Sean is excited to return to the world of microelectronics and to be on board with Spirit Electronics! In his role, Sean will be seeking out new opportunities and building relationships with our customers, while supporting their procurement and design needs.

Sean is an Arizona native and enjoys cooking, swimming, music and most of all, spending time with his wonderful family.

Steve

Account Representative

Steve joined the Spirit Electronics team in April 2022 as an account representative. He is new to the aerospace and electronics industry and has previously worked as an analyst for a health care company and a sales manager for an advertising business.

Steve is from the Chicagoland area and moved to Phoenix in 2016. He’s a graduate of DePaul University in downtown Chicago with a BA in communications. During his free time, he enjoys playing with his dachshund Barry, hanging out with his sisters- and brother-in-law, golfing at the many courses throughout the Valley, and watching movies.

Terri Macdonald

Terri

Director of Marketing

Terri has worked in marketing for high reliability electronics companies in the mil-aero sector for 30 years, including White Electronic Designs and Microsemi. Excited to be part of the dynamic Team Spirit, she manages the website, PR, advertising, social media, and other marketing functions to support the team. She finds the continually evolving technology, especially in the aerospace industry, absolutely fascinating.

Terri is an Arizona native who loves gardening, painting and spending time with her family. Her father was a pilot who taught America, French and British cadets during WWII, sparking her lifelong interest in aviation.

Tim Biddlecome

Supply Chain Support

Born and raised in Southern California, Tim and his wife moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 2009 in search of new opportunities. In 2014, he found himself in the purchasing field for the international restaurant industry. To expand his purchasing experience, Tim started at Spirit Electronics in 2022 and manages order review and requirements. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California Baptist University and a master’s degree in leadership from Grand Canyon University.

Tim has two kids. In his free time, he enjoys various outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and kayaking. When at home, Tim enjoys spending time in the kitchen.

Travis

Travis

Purchasing Coordinator

Travis Ireland has 8 years of supply chain management and procurement. Currently he is serving in the Army National Guard. He has lived in Arizona for two years and enjoys golfing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Trey

Business Analyst

Trey was Born and raised in Washington state before moving to Hawaii.  He graduated high school there, and enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Information Technology Specialist. Trey served for 8 years at attained the rank of Sergeant. After receiving an honorable discharge, he started college for cyber security before moving to Arizona.
